In This Place From Thorin Loeks Captures Pieces of Soulful Reflection

17 Apr

Overall, In This Place captures all the reflecting and soulful introspection than one needs to hear during the time of a pandemic. The vocals of Thorin Loeks are mesmerizing from track to track. Some standout songs on this album include Open Sky and With You. Musically, one hears a beautiful mix between acoustic and Americana with heartfelt lyrics. With lyrics from Open Sky “we’ll find a way to make this right, to make it right”, it packs a deep punch to listeners thinking about their life path upon an open sky. Looking further into this, listeners will connect the feeling of being a wanderer with a feeling of wanting to feel grounded as well. As a result of a three year project, the album feels like a book waiting to be read and consumed by the voracious reader. Without a doubt, I’m going to have this album on repeat as it balances the reflecting with easy listening.

Scott Chasolen Writes From The Purest Tragic Heart In Album Living In Limbo

5 Dec

Living In Limbo expresses the twists and turns of love and every emotion that accompanies that in this reflective album. Listeners should not lump this music alongside your typical heartache anthems. Chasolen’s music is not only raw, but it dives deep on your beneath the surface emotions that aren’t even linked directly to an emotion like happiness, sadness, or anger. With piano ballads that are as mighty as a guitar riff, the album does not fall short instrumentally either. Standout tracks include Limbo and Bluebird on the 12 track list. Lyrics from both of these songs differ greatly and capture two different emotions of love. Limbo describes that feeling where you are on the fence with someone and your heart does not know what to do. Bluebird is unlike any song I’ve ever heard before, painting the bird as one that will get through anything and using the superhero power of strength to overcome obstacles and a reclaiming of their silver sky again. Elaborating a little bit further on the instrumentals on this album include acoustic guitar sections and ever constant piano ballads that are almost symphony like, but pair up nicely with the meaningful lyrics and mood that this set of songs brings the listener.

Words Of Yesterday Represents Everything That A Phoenix Needs To Rise From Their Ashes And Transform

6 May

Upon first listening to Benny Bassett, one can close their eyes and visualize the idea of chance and how it fits in the realms of love, life, and other areas. With his lyrics and unique storytelling, he paints visual pictures with lyrics such as “I want to show you this heart on my sleeve” and “mood is heavy, heartache forgotten with just one stare” in one of the songs Window to Forever. listeners can pick up on his reflective and meaningful way of intertwining his stories in his songs. Words of Yesterday overall sets up each track representing lost opportunities in certain situations, culminating in the heavy collection of songs. Bassett not only inspires listeners with the album, but it’s also to be held with a sense of empowerment as well. With every loss, there can be wins that are found. Following his second album, this 6 track EP will draw even more of a potential audience to his music. Instrumentally strong, the sound of the album sounds intentional and a varied mixture of rock, easy listening, and lyrical. There are dashes of country influence riffs and grit that will appeal to anyone taking a listen.

30 Nov

With Rahm’s premiere EP Between The Lines, listeners will hear the spiritual undertone that his music has. Just one of the tracks, You Are Not Alone has breathy, female vocals that accompany Rahm’s voice in such a complimentary way. The EP has a great combination of perfect music structure and lyrics that complement the soft, yet progressive sounds of Rahm. Similar artists that listeners will think of when listening to Rahm include Genesis, David Bowie, and Pink Floyd. The emphasis on beautiful piano work, progressive guitar, and heartfelt lyrical storytelling all make listeners pay attention and want to listen to more of Rahm.
