Lyric of the Day (#1)
26 May“Here Come The Jesters, 1 2 3”
– “Rock and Roll Fantasy” by Bad Company off of the 1979 album “Desolation Angels”
C’mon What else would you expect for the opening lyric of the day from the music court. Did you know that Bad Company’s first lead singer Paul Rodgers played with Micky Moody in his first band Free. Micky Moody who later went to Whitesnake fame. Makes me ask the question was he the first inspiration for Tawny Kitaen’s show on David Coverdale’s Jaguar in the power ballad “Here I go Again.”

That Really Looks Like Bad Company
Song of the Day (#1)
26 May
For the first installment of the “Song of the Day” let us dig a little deep into the music realm and pull out a song that many may have heard but few know. “Waiting for My Real Life to Begin,” is a relatively obscure song by Colin Hay, the man who once fronted Men at Work. Yes, the odd Australian-Reggae hybrid who wrote the painfully catchy “Down Under.” Did you know that their album, “Business as Usual,” as well as their song “Down Under,” both stood at #1 in the United States at the same time? This made them the first Australian band to pull off this impressive feat, but I digress.
For all those who believe they have seemingly seen every Scrubs episode, possibly because I believe countless re-runs of scrubs are on every single television channel, you may have heard this song on the episode entitled “My Philosophy.” At the end of the episode Jill Tracy leads the Scrubs cast in singing “Waiting for My Real Life to Begin,” as she passes from heart failure. This moment proved two things. Everyone in the Scrubs cast can apparently sing (Don’t you just love editing) and wow can Scrubs continue to get viewers to tear up.
The song is wonderful though. It is defined by an acoustic chord progression that is perfectly picked and strummed with every accented word sung by the talented Colin Hay. The lyrics wash over listeners as oddly hopeful. It almost seems like Colin Hay is successfully teaching listeners through his verse. The song ends with the lines, “On a clear day I can see, see for a long way,” and Hay makes sure to string out the words “see” and “way” over his chord progression highlighting his point. We all wait for our ship to come valiantly sailing to the shore to pick us up and help us bring dreams to the real world. But, in reality, all one must do is open up their heart and every day will be clear. This is why this song, while also being tremendously catchy, is such a great listen. It may not stick in your mind as a memorable epic song like a “Wish You Were Here,” or a “Layla,” but it will provide you with a soft listen and a good message.
“Open up your heart, Let the light shine in”

What This Blog Will Offer
26 May
First, and foremost, this blog will be your loyal court for anything and everything music. We want a loose blog where all music lovers can gather and discuss various posts, concerts, and bands. We invite musicians to come and promote their music and viewers to spread their respectable opinions while hopefully enjoying the daily updates. This all shall be done by maintaining a harmonious blog atmosphere for everyone (how bout that subtle musicality).
We will provide songs of the day, lyrics of the day, album reviews, and our own thoughts on music news, concerts, and new bands. Basically, how about everything music. Because that is what we do here in the music court as your lute playing jesters, get pummeled by the kings (your) authority and cower in fear while providing you with music information. Drop on by and comment away. Hey, promote your band and maybe you will get on the main page as a new band of the week.
Also, moving away from the norm we will provide you with a 60’s Band of the Week. Let’s keep the greatest classics alive while discussing all those famous musicians in their 60’s bands. Do you know what Van Morrison’s original band was called. Van Morrison, yeah the guy who sings “Brown Eyed Girl.” What are you deprived, go listen to that song it’s a classic. So do you know them? Van Morrison’s first band is embedded into that last sentence. All 60’s music in the band of the week section.
Above all, we want you to enjoy and never forget music is best listened to in daily dosages. So get that dosage with The Music Court.
