Court Links: New Decade Links 2010

1 Jan

A healthy and happy New Year to everyone out there in the blogosphere this January 1, 2010 morning. For your delight here are two New Year’s links to get the new decade started off well.

Some stars that charted in 2009 told Rolling Stones their plans for the new year and what affected them most in the past year. Celeb’s such as Adam Lambert and Wyclef Jean were interviewed. Check it out: http://www.billboard.com/#/news/video-2009-chart-stars-talk-2010-plans-1004055761.story

Prefer video evidence that the new year is upon us. Some of you are just waking up to a quiet new year’s breakfast. “All is quiet on new year’s day.”

Court Link: “All You Need Is Love”

28 Dec

Love is all you need

Starbucks and their love project recently coordinated a world-wide ongoing campaign to creatively help fight HIV/AIDS that is just ravishing Africa. Personally, I am inspired. On December 7th, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. GMT musicians joined from all over the world to sing The Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love” together at the same time to raise awareness of the miserable virus. The video is awe-inspiring; a perfect example that there is still love in this world. Love, while it sometimes may seem hard to locate, is indelibly ingrained into our being. So, get inspired. Watch the video and help out. Visit this website and add your voice: http://www.starbucksloveproject.com

Court Links: Top 25 Pop Hits of 2009 All Together at Once and American Idol News

28 Dec

Blame it on the po-po-po-po-po-po-po-po-pop

I am a sucker for music mixes. Something about DJ’s juxtaposing various hits into one coherent song is just amazing. DJ Earworm, in his “United States of Pop 2009” mixed the top 25 songs of 2009 into one song and here is the catch. He did it well. So, I am putting this mix into the category of you must take a listen even if you do not like the songs. This is because of the sheer awesomeness of mashups. Take a listen.

Oh American Idol. Each year you exhaust the talent of the United States but always seem to come back with more of a punch. If you like the show you are addicted. Something about bad auditions, success stories, and good singers draws you in. If you dislike the show it is the scum of the television world. The single reason why Fox stinks (well, I can think of a few more reasons). Yet, one thing everyone can agree on is that, no matter what the case, the show is quite successful and always draws a lot of viewers and votes each year. And, apparently it will be on the screens of millions of viewers for some more years. How does the 2014 winner sound to you. Better yet, there may even be an American version of the British show X-Factor hitting the fox airwaves soon. More on this and the fortunate case of Simon Cowell in the Rolling Stone article.

Court Links: Late Christmas Songs

25 Dec

How about some unconventional holiday music twists. The norm of Christmas music is fine and all, but after a few songs it can get a bit boring. The Music Court does not like boring. Instead, let’s do some Trans-Siberian Orchestra and The Brian Setzer Orchestra. Keep in the holiday spirit and enjoy both of these songs. Merry Christmas!

Court Links: A Few Links Before a Big Posting Day Tomorrow

23 Dec

Today I will not have much time to post, but tomorrow I will. So, I have decided to just profile a few links today and focus on a large posting day tomorrow which will include a poll response and a new poll. Now on to the links. Boy do I have a funny but kind of disturbing one for you.

Ozzy Osbourne, the original Prince of Darkness, apparently does not like Christmas. Well, maybe I should go as far as saying he hates the merry time of the year. Back in 2003 he spent Christmas unconscious due to an accident. That was also the same year a duet with his daughter caught him a rare Christmas #1. Ozzy said while at a book signing,

‘I had a Christmas number one. The only thing is that I was in hospital. When I did that thing with Kelly, I then nearly killed myself in a quad-bike accident.

‘I was in a coma for a while so I missed Christmas, thank God. If I want to miss Christmas, I’ll get on my quad bike and break my neck again.’

Awesome Video
To add to the awesomely new awesome video section here is a video of Roger Waters playing “Mother.” No big deal or anything.
