“Let The Time Roll By” and Be Optimistic This Friday

15 Apr

Casual Friday has evolved over the years

It has just struck midnight and I am occupying myself, procrastinating away precious sleep hours, with mindless internet searching. This is normally the time where I run through various music blogs and sites and look for cool stuff to link back too. Don’t you just love the online community, so vocal and eager to share. Makes me optimistic. Yes, I hope this Friday brings happiness to all. So, to start your Friday right, I want to provide you with an awesome video from the effervescent, or as one reviewer would call, “catchy as hell” band Onward, Soldiers.

Check out this video: http://vimeo.com/10883519

Onward, Soldiers, led by Americana singer/songwriter Sean Gerard is fun rock n’ roll at its best. “Let The Time Roll By” is a good example of this. They are the perfect Friday group. Enjoy this song and check out their Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/onwardsoldiers

Stuck in My Head: “Haven’t Met You Yet” by Michael Buble

3 Apr

I apologize for not posting yesterday. I just have come down with some sort of sickness (probably a head cold) and I have been busy with work in anticipation of my illustrious return to Binghamton on Monday. But, I’m back…and I do not usually post in Saturday. First, I hope everyone has a lovely Saturday. I will most likely be very lazy today in an attempt to shake this cold.

That means I have an opportunity to listen to some music. There is one particular song that is stuck in my head and I am having trouble shaking it. “Haven’t Met You Yet,” the first single off Canadian Michael Buble’s fourth album Crazy Love, is an effervescent song paired with Buble’s great voice. He co-wrote the song for his fiancée, Luisana Lopilato. How sweet. She also appears on the video below.

Help Me Raise Money For Cancer Research

31 Mar

Hey Guys,

Bingamton University, like many colleges, holds an annual Relay for Life event. My fraternity, Delta Sigma Phi, raised the most money last year for cancer research and we are looking to succeed in our quest to not only raise the most money again, but also raise over $4,000.

It is a wonderful cause and is incredibly important. Any donation is much appreciated. If you have a chance and you want to donate to the worthy cause follow this link: http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/RelayForLife/RFLFY10EA?px=13138897&pg=personal&fr_id=20642

Thank you so much for any donation. You are contributing to the research of a cure that would save many.

And, to entice you to donate, here is one of my favorite lift-me-up songs “Here Comes the Sun”

Let it Snow, Let it Snow

26 Feb

Okay, I will not lie to you, I have had a pretty busy day. A combination between unsavory fraternity business, school work and the monstrous snow storm that is pounding Binghamton right now, has led me to 2 a.m. on Friday. I really wanted to get you a top 100 lyricist but that just did not occur. But, because I cannot go without posting, I am going to give you favorite snow song. If you are currently getting hit hard by the snowstorm and keeping awake to watch its fury stay in, keep warm, and enjoy the sweet harmony of Fleet Foxes. Shoot me some comments and let me know what songs you cuddle with on a wintry night

20,000!!! and Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck: Night 2

20 Feb

20,000 views! Hooray! Pop the champagne and sip triumph. Just kidding; but 20,000 is pretty exciting. And, what better way is there to celebrate than with day 2 of Clapton and Beck.

I had first hand accounts this time around. My parents were at the concert and according to them it was a fantastic show. As my father said, “Beck was extraordinary and Clapton was Clapton.” He also said, “The combination of the two was great. It was arguably two of the greatest guitarists of all time.” What can be wrong with that?

Beck had a slight change in his set-list adding his original “Brush With The Blues” to the 10 song masterpiece he played the first night. Otherwise, everything stayed the same. The unbelievable same!

So, in honor of 20,000 hits and Clapton and Beck finishing up their New York stay let’s enjoy a little “Further On Up the Road”
