Monday Links of the Day: Chains and Not Learning From Your Mistakes

13 Jul

Happy Monday! To continue your day on the right foot here are some interesting links. One will make you laugh and one will make you inevitably cringe. Firstly chains. Like the chains on a link but more focused on idiotic designs. Yes, rappers delight in these expressive chains. It is used as symbolism for their highly detailed and satirical rap hits. HAHA. Who am I kidding. They are just there to demonstrate that they have a lot of money and are spending it idiotically while others are struggling to survive. Wait, is this one supposed to make you laugh or cringe. Well, I would say laugh I mean come on:

What else in the news. Well, 79 year old Joe Jackson, father and abuser of his son Michael Jackson, wants Jackson’s children to now tour the world as the Jackson Three in honor of their father. WHAT!?! Are you kidding me. Somebody stop this horrible man. At least he is too old now to do significant harm but still talk about not learning from your mistakes.

“Ian (Halperin (Jackson Biographer)) added to Britain’s The Sun newspaper: ‘One of the family members is livid. He is saying Joe seems intent to do this no    matter what. He wants to exploit the kids the same way he did Michael.’ Yesterday (12.07.09) it was reported Michael’s mother Katherine was in secret talks with her son’s ex-wife Debbie Rowe to exclude Joe from the children’s lives.”

Please for the sake of everyone make sure that Joe Jackson is excluded. These kids can never grow up fully sheltered and “normal” but there is no need to take advantage of them just like this man did with his own son who is now dead because of drug abuse.

Links of the Day: Another Guitar Hero and Another Guitar Master

9 Jul

Links

You know I have had similar links before. I posted a link of Tommy Emmanuel, the guitar freak, playing the guitar incredibly fast, and I have posted a set-list of a new Rock Band Game. So today, I will not stray far away from my past. Some guitar hero 5 tracks and a video of a guitarist who equals Mr. Emmanuel, Roy Clark.

Guitar Hero

Guitar Hero 5 has just announced that Bob Dylan and Kings of Leon will be added onto their growing set-list which already includes Deep Purple’s “Woman from Tokyo,” and Tom Petty’s, “Runnin’ Down a Dream.” Check out the rest of them over here: http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/07/09/guitar-hero-5-adds-bob-dylan-kings-of-leon-to-eclectic-set-list/

Roy Clark

Roy Clark is awesome. Here is a video of him displaying his amazing quickness and proficiency. Really Really Really cool: http://www.fark.com/cgi/vidplayer.pl?IDLink=4498403

Links of the Day: Vinyls and Freebird

8 Jul

The Old Links are Back!!!

The Old Links are Back!!!

An interesting combo for today’s links of the day. Two things that do indeed go together. I can prove it, I have the Vinyl record. Vinyls are apparently on the rise according to Pop and Hiss the LA Times music blog. Yes, Vinyls those big 12 inch LP’s that you need to spin with a needle that fits around 5-6 songs per side. Apparently people like nostalgia and I am one of them. With the rise of classic rock, vinyl record sales were sure to go up. It would seem that the youth is so used to torrenting and downloading music that while CD’s have lost their draw, records almost give this youth an old-time feeling.

Freebird

Also, stop shouting  play “Freebird” at every concert if anyone still does that. The Lynyrd Skynyrd classic and the corresponding joke is long gone and over with. What punk! You don’t believe me.

Last Week Seeds’ bassist and front man Sky Saxon passed away. One of the unsung deaths over this span of early callings. Saxon and The Seeds were an early Psychedelic band in 1965 and were seen as one of the first punk bands.
