Bryan Away paints an EP dosed with melancholy and reflecting in Give In. Characteristic of Opera meets spoken word, Away’s music paints a storytelling web about how he sees the world and his commentary on it. Musically, the EP mixes the calm tones of a synth keyboard with backfill of reverb noise to give a dash of atmospheric texture. A track that stands out not only because of its sound, but also its lyrical content as well is Birthday Song. If a listener closes their eyes, they will hear a mixture of 90s rock influence and a poetic tone of feeling linked together. For Elliot Korte, recording alias aside, he’s been making music for a lifetime, but did not publicly release it until 2016. His music is quite sophisticated and well thought out from the album’s beginning to the end. Produced by James McAlister, producer who has worked closely with Sufjan Stevens and Bryce Desner, GIve In does not miss the mark of brilliance. Bryan Away you are off to a great start after your public revealing of your music.
