Krigarè takes the original acclaimed hit by A-Ha’s Take On Me and makes it her own. While my loyalty lies with the original one, Krigarè makes this song her own with the angsty undertones. Instrumentally, it is not your standard pop song, but rather its slowed down, making it intentionally rock and carrying synthetic vibes with the musical arrangement. In this instance, do not write this off as simply a cover, Krigarè channels so much more within this song. Her name literally translates to the word Warrior and it shows in her music. With the strong and fearless attitude and unique approach to making music, its no surprise she has nothing short of warrior like qualities. Prior to this cover release, she began her journey in the music industry by playing piano for Kelly Clarkson at the Grammy Awards and has composed songs within the cinematic industries as well. Further adding to her warrior ship, she was diagnosed with two different cancers at 16, and has persevered joining worldwide outlets, over 75 radio stations, and some of the most popular streaming services such as Itunes, Spotify, and Pandora. Newly Released Single Fake It Channels Erich Mrak’s Synth Vibe

Releasing shortly after his newest releases of Navigate & Drive, Fake It showcases the wide range and variety that Mrak has. As part of his musical collection releasing one single month over month from January to June, his EP will be made up of those released tracks. When listening to the lyrics within the song, its quite clear that Mrak channels the feelings that he experiences throughout the song with lyrics such as “I’m close to the edge, when healing myself doesn’t make sense”. Listeners will hear that the song waves in and out of upbeat and slow tempos all rolled into one. When trying to figure out musicians in the industry that have a similar sound include the names of Spooky Black, old school Smashing Pumpkins, and 90s electronica. His unique sound, unconventional lyrics, and a mix of hip-hop ebbing and flowing throughout the song keep newcomers to his synth vibe in tune, in check, and wanting more.

D.G. Adam’s Nest Of Vipers Brings The Angst & Rock In Latest Album

Coming after the debut album of Feminine Endings, Nest of Vipers carries references of its own throughout the song list. Inspired and fueled with creative sparks after realizing that the translation of Cancún meant “land of snakes”, listeners can sense that each and every one of these songs have an intention and association with them. One of the standout tracks on the album include I’m Writing To Say with lyrics such as “remember I love you as long as I’m alive”. The song has a no frills arrangement, but anyone who has gone through heartbreak is immediately connected to that memory due to D.G. Adam’s vibrant writing. Some influences that one can connect to this sound include The Hollies, David Bowie, and Rufus Wainwright. On the other end of the arrangement and musical tone, include Platonic Lovers. Adam’s does an excellent job at incorporating Latin and jazz elements within the song and the feel-good doo wop background vocals give the song added atmosphere. From start to finish, Nest of Vipers surprises listeners along the way with a variety of sounds, themes, and the auditory experience along the way.

Y. Dan Rubenstein Weaves Stories of Growth In Single Don’t Break What You Cannot Fix

Y. Dan Rubenstein channels his inner storyteller in the single Don’t Break What You Cannot Fix from his debut album Stolen Moments. Set to release this summer, Rubenstein is already setting a strong foundation with his diverse songs filled with jazz and Latin influence. Yet, do not compartmentalize that sound as Rubenstein intertwines traditional rock arrangements in there as well. Comparable to others within the songwriting space, musicians are taking on the world issues head on by singing about them. Through the song, he points out the themes of resistance and fighting with strong lyrics that fill heavy hearts. “It’s easier to insist than break what you cannot fix” is just one highlight of how he expresses some of the political state of America and how people view it, and promote change. While some may not warm up to hearing about current issues within music, the single expresses a mixture of concern, reflecting, and activism all rolled up into one. Musicians like Y. Dan Rubenstein may not fill your car radio’s playlist day in and day out, but I can picture at a show a whole audience being moved by his activism and musicianship driving the steering wheel of inspiration.
