Tall Pines & Tangled Vines Tangle Up Emotions, Peace, and The Idea of A Journey

23 Jul

With their newest album called Tall Pines & Tangled Vines, Odhran Linsey and Lucy Mckinlay do an excellent job vocalizing a beautiful blend of acoustic and folk greatness throughout the album. One of the most powerful tracks is Wild which explores the idea of being on a journey and the path that leads to an individual’s map to answers. Alongside the beautiful vocal talents, the musical arrangement of the album encompasses a variety of sounds which include the mandola, harmonica, and bodhran. When referencing similar artists, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Devendra Banhart, and Iron & Wine all have close similarities to The Rabbitts’. If you take a listen and close your eyes, The Rabbits give you a sense of wonderment, internal reflection, and a feeling of peace as their music hits your soul.

My Autumn Amor Stirs That Love Feeling In Letters To Brie

14 Jul

The vocal talents of Thomas Monroe will mesmerize you within this album Letters To Brie with a combination of anthems, dreams, and heartbreak. When listening to Monroe’s voice, you can draw similarities between John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats, Conor Oberst of The Bright Eyes, and subtle hints of Nate Ruess from fun. To hear a woman vocalist sing about heartbreak is one thing and it can be raw, angsty, and fill you up with emotion. On the other hand, a man’s point of view is refreshing and gives a different perspective. The narrative qualities combined with real conversations and a twist of a love song all make everything work on Letters To Brie. The combination of minimal musical instruments with the right balance of rock guitar and percussion work well with the impeccable sound mastering quality to make it more than just a broken heart waiting to be mended.

Maxwell James Spins A Different Vibe For Country Folk Within Album Self-Titled

9 Jul

Upon first listening to Maxwell James, imagine a hybrid of sound between Sam Beam from Iron & Wine and Luke Bryan. Combining just the right amount of guitar strumming and drawn out lyrics, James instruments both perfectly in his album Self-Titled. The tracks on the album vary from angsty rock to feel good country, showing two different sides to his sound. With lyrics like, “roll down your windows slowly, you’ll get to know me” illustrate a storytelling quality that centers around ordinary happenings. The way that he arranges such lyrics to the music makes the qualities of country and rock music into a sound all his own. An example of this on the album is within the track Roll Down Your Window Slowly, a standout track on the EP. The merging of his unique voice, precise musical arrangement, and whipping up a melting pot of sounds will keep listeners wanting more from this Nashville based musician.
