Take a listen to Head Fake and get ready to be transported to an electro-synched world ready to open up. With radio cuts and 80s influence, EP2 knows exactly how to to merge an electro world with the modern day music sound. The band Producer Ivan clearly shows that he has traveled the world and helped musicians from all over. When reflecting on the origins of EP2, it makes sense that with the combination of being in the Indie and film soundtrack circuit, this translates to the full bodied songs that are on this album. You can close your eyes and envision a scene amongst EP2’s music and not only is it refreshing, it speaks to your soul. A standout track off their album is Song For Daughters with lyrics such as “someday you will wander off in search of your own sky”. Aside from the pop-80s chop chop instrumentals and that almost sway a listener in humming and dancing around their living room, EP2 artfully constructs their music knowing its filled with the best of intentions. It shows just by feeling the effect that their music has, leaving you fulfilled and at peace.

Mein Wort In Deiner Dunkelheit Album By Rainer Landfermann Merges The World of Orchestra and Heavy Metal In One

6 Apr

Upon first listen, to Mein Wort In Deiner Dunkelheit, its very clear that the world of orchestra and extreme metal have been significant influences for German musician Rainer Landfermann. Not only are the songs on the album dark, but they also push the boundaries of extreme metal. This is characterized by the double basses, featuring of choirs in the background, and jazz ballads as well. When I think of additional influences or similarities, I can draw similar musical connections to songs in Operas. Dubbed as one of the top extreme vocalists of all time, Rainer Landfermann does not hold back vocally in this album. A standout track, called Kunstvoll showcases a lot of these heavy instrumentals. Not only does the album really dive into darkness, it also shows the lightness of metal as well with moments of soft tempos and reflective lyrics. Prior to listening to this album, I have never heard metal quite like this. To that, Rainer Landfermann, you are doing something that is extraordinarily unique not only in the music world, but as an artist.

Chotto-Ghetto Charges Up The Idea of Sci-Fi Themed Album WILDFIRE

29 Feb

If you are confused at all processing what you have listened to with WILDFIRE tuned up ready to go, you are not alone. With mashups of audio that mash up political messages with narration, Chotto-Ghetto creates an atmosphere of another world. When mixing elements of Coheed and Cambria and the classic punk heavy rock of Mars Volta, Chotto Ghetto makes themselves distinguished in the post-hardcore punk metal genre. Even the idea around the album is conceptually based on the idea of finding a black box from a scientific experiment gone wrong. Some standout tracks on the album include The Work which narrows in on the idea of simulation and this other world. The track has alot of mixed audio, heavy progressive metal instrumentals, and a dash of percussion overload as well. The band has been together for 15 years, and this is their third album release. No surprise here to know they have played the infamous punk festival called the Fest for a 6th time. Additionally, they have gone on tour with well-known acts like Bomb The Music Industry, Jeff Rossenstock, and Anti-Flag.

The Magical Voice of XI.ME.NA Channels The Force of Motherhood In Before You

18 Feb

Upon first listening to the EP Before You, you will hear the magical voice of XI.ME.NA and immediately get transfixed on it. Inspired by her becoming a mother, the music of the art pop singer shows she has a wide range of vocal diversity as well. Some of the songs on the EP, audiences would classify as easy listening mixed with electronica music. With just four songs on the album, one that stands out is the song Before You, centered around the life’s pondering of who she was before the birth of her son. The track takes a reflective, yet raw look at the artist and how this significant life event blends into her music making. If you want to close your eyes, and be taken on a storytelling journey, take a listen to XI.ME.NA.
