LeeSun Brings Life, Spunk, and A New Level of Realness In Album My Life

13 Oct

Take one glance at LeeSun and she gives you eyes of fierceness and fearless attitude that makes you think words of truth are all that exist within her music. Listen to her music and you will find a deeper depth than just fierceness. LeeSun sings from the heart with her lyrics being a mix of whimsy, life’s musings, and painful experiences turned lighthearted melancholy. She brings themes of identity, adulthood, and the journey of an artist through her songs as well. When LeeSun’s voice fills my headphones, I smile reflecting on my love for The Moldy Peaches, Regina Spektor, and Marina & The Diamonds and the similarities that the album My Life has with those musicians. Authenticity and the free spirit of her music will connect with listeners and find you reflecting on your own life, struggles, and the happiness that lies in the success of succeeding.

Nothing’s Wrong Showcases Elza’s Enchanting Vocal Style

13 Oct

Close your eyes and be prepared to be taken away by Elza’s voice in her album Nothing’s Wrong. For those who enjoy listening to storytelling through music, specifically from female vocalists, add Elza to the list. Comparably speaking of vocalists in reference such as Feist, Florence Welch, and Alison Sudol, she finds a way to reflect and story tell within her music and take her listeners on the journey. Throughout the album, it waves between power ballads, marked by the heavy synth and drums and the softness of simple vocals and light instrumentals. Listeners will be surprised that her sound is pleasantly moody, leaving room for unexpected themes and vibes on the album. A standout track on the album, Swayed best exemplifies this auditory observation. It mixes a level of raw and rebel vibes in all the right ways. Everything is right about the words that make up this album and the voice and music that make it all possible.

Nocturnal Animal’s Writing On The Walls May Be The Next Best Thing In Atlanta

2 Oct

When you tune up Writing On The Walls, kick back and get teleported back to the hair metal and classic rock. The album showcases a variety of songs and moods to each one. Some of the standout tracks include Shiver and Fake Love. Fake Love carries the tone of the classic rock goodness and traditional rock synth. Shiver on contrast, sounds like a mixture of Smashing Pumpkins and Silversun Pickups. Nocturnal Animal’s overall sound sounds effortlessly organic, evolved, and authentic. In a music culture that sometimes steers musicians and groups in other directions, this band sounds like they know exactly who they are and how their sound should evolve. Amongst the local Atlanta music scene, I have not gotten the chance to hear them until now. With all of that aside, the musicianship and musical arrangement sounds well thought out, effectively mixing it up between moody rock and something all their own. Nocturnal Animals, hopefully I’ll get a chance to see you in Atlanta soon.

Galapaghost Takes Listeners Through Time Traveling Dreams In Album Sootie

29 Sep

Upon first listening to Galapaghost, the sense and vibe of 90s rock runs through Sootie. Standout tracks on the album include Bedtime and Jellyghost. Bedtime has synthy waves and tones of 90s rock. On the other end of the spectrum, Jellyghost has similar musical qualities of Bedtime, but it has more free form instrumentals and tones. With lyrics that point out the routine nuances of life, it carries an out of this world experience. Listeners will find that the music on this album sounds similar to the Islands, The Shins, and the Unicorns. Galapaghost showcases Casey Chandler’s talents from a 360 view. From personal tracks to the organic nature of the album Sootie, this should be on everyone’s must listen to list for 2018.

Enter A Whole New World In FIELDS AMAZE and other sTRANGE With Patrick Grant’s Newest Album

24 Sep

When people hear remakes, sequels, or redos of any kind, most likely the first reaction that will come out of this will be an eye roll or a defiant, you can’t get better than the first one. For this album, the remake is an extension of the original.Composer Patrick Grant has remade his FIELDS AMAZE album with a newly titled collection called FIELDS AMAZE and other sTRANGE music after 20 years and it sounds superb. Listeners should clear a space and not be distracted, as listening to the album under anything other than these conditions will not give Grant the credit he deserves with this wonderful masterpiece. From certain tracks that are mostly simply piano to the complex ones that have a variety of piano overtures, musicians, music aficionados, and the piano connoisseur will all express the sentiments of satisfaction after listening to Grant’s newest creation. The album is set to release October 1st, so eager audiences will have to wait a little bit longer, but in the meantime can listen to his previously released album, A Sequence of Waves (twelve stories and a dream). With a mixture of homages to 60s and 70s cinema and the traditional piano overtures, Grant excels at arranging all of these tracks into more than a remake, but rather a collection of new tracks.
